King Abdullah’s meeting with heads of the Orthodox churches in the Middle East is a reminder to the international community and the Arab countries that Muslims and Christians in the region, and indeed elsewhere in the world, of the need for peaceful religious accommodation and for constructive and collaborative relations.
The King proudly referred to the deep-rooted harmony and coexistence among Jordanians of all faiths, as a “distinguished” model for other countries to follow.
Indeed, Jordan can be more than proud of the amicable relations enjoyed by Muslims and Christians. Muslims view Christians as “People of the Book”. They are an integral part of the three monotheistic faiths to which Islam belongs.
