India’s Restive Regions Get Bulk of Funding for Tourism Projects
New Delhi, Ministry of Tourism, (14 Dec 2012) – Jammu and Kashmir, and the restive Northeastern States of India have received by far the bulk of the funds for Projects sanctioned by the Ministry of Tourism since 2009, according to the following fact sheet released by the Ministry. The projects are relating to Product/Infrastructure Development for Destination and Circuits (PIDDC), Human Resource Development (HRD), Fairs and Festivals and Rural Tourism (A&RT). The funding allocation clearly reflects the development priorities of the Indian government and the role of travel & tourism in bringing jobs and peace to those parts of the country still facing internal disturbances.
