Muhammad Ali Centre launches fund-raising campaign, bid to inspire youth to greatness
LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–August 13, 2013 – Muhammad and Lonnie Ali, and the Muhammad Ali Center today launched a campaign on Prizeo, the premier celebrity charity-fundraising digital platform, to raise money and awareness for the work of the Muhammad Ali Center, a 501(c)3 organization in Louisville, Kentucky.
For micro-donations starting at only $3, contributors to the campaign at www.Prizeo.com/Ali will be entered to win the Grand Prize—the chance to meet Muhammad and Lonnie Ali and to attend as their guest a special celebration hosted by the Ali Center this October in the Alis’ hometown of Louisville.
The Muhammad Ali Center is an international cultural center which promotes the six core principles of Muhammad Ali (Confidence, Conviction, Dedication, Giving, Respect, and Spirituality) in ways that inspire personal and global greatness and provides programming and events around the focus areas of education, gender equity, and global citizenship. Its newest initiative, Generation Ali, fosters a new generation of leaders to contribute positively to their communities and to change the world for the better. The Center’s headquarters also contains an award-winning museum experience.
“Social media reaches a whole new generation of young people,” said Lonnie Ali. “It is how they learn what is new with their best friend, their surrounding communities and even what is happening on the other side of the world. Today’s youth shop, research, network and interact online. Through the Prizeo campaign, Muhammad and I want to use social engagement to reach and meet this demographic where they interact and on social platforms where they can connect and engage with the Muhammad Ali Center for less than the price of a gallon of gas.”
“A critical element of our mission is sharing Muhammad’s legacy and using his core principles to inspire adults and children everywhere to be as great as they can be,” continued Lonnie Ali. “These principles are as relevant today as they were when Muhammad was a young man and perhaps resonate now more than ever.”
“We are delighted to partner with Muhammad and the Ali Center to raise both funds and awareness of the Center’s mission and programs,” says Leo Seigal, co-founder of Prizeo. “Prizeo is a uniquely social platform with tools that will enable Muhammad to connect directly with his fans in a meaningful way and to encourage them to engage with their communities. This ‘social multiplier effect’ will likely make for a truly historical fundraising experience, in part because it enables Muhammad to connect with a whole new generation of fans.”
Prizeo’s unique micro-donation model lets fans buy chances to win once-in-a-lifetime experiences with their favorite celebrities whose charities benefit from the online campaigns that run live on Prizeo.com.
Prizeo also enables celebrities to maximize the benefits their social-media influence can deliver on behalf of charities. Recent Prizeo campaigns featuring celebrities including Samuel L. Jackson, Kristen Bell, Alisha Keys, Kobe Bryant, and One Direction’s Harry Styles and Liam Payne have all shown the immense power of social media to raise both funds and awareness for charitable causes.
The Grand Prize winner will be chosen at random and notified shortly after the campaign closes on September 12. For full contest rules, see http://www.prizeo.com/terms-and-conditions.
