Rahul Gandhi: BJP inciting Hindus against Muslims
Stating that communal forces had killed his grandmother and father and “will probably kill me too”, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi launched a blistering attack on the BJP on Wednesday, accusing it of inciting Hindus against Muslims. He also targeted the party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, as he drew a veiled analogy between the recent communal riots in Muzaffarnagar and the 2002 post-Godhra riots in Gujarat.
Addressing rallies at Churu and Alwar in Rajasthan, he referred to his visit to riot-hit Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh and said, “I was seeing my face in their grief. That is why I am against the politics of BJP. They will set Muzaffarnagar on fire, Gujarat on fire, UP on fire and Kashmir on fire and then you and we will have to douse that.. this damages the country. The BJP divides people, but I want the people of India to be united.”
