Bristol Opens “drunk-tank” to save party-goers from themselves – The Independent
A city’s emergency services have become the first outside London to open a “drunk tank” where intoxicated revellers can sober up or receive medical treatment. Under the scheme, drunks considered a danger to themselves will be put into cells to recover from the effects of alcohol.
The first alcohol recovery centre (ARC) will open in Bristol tomorrow night, following a successful pilot last autumn. The ARC will initially operate over the festive period, tackling problem drinking to improve safety for those enjoying nights out in the city centre.
