Japan holiday travel reservations up from last year
Reservations for seats on Japan Railways Group trains and on flights by the nation’s major airlines for the holiday season have both increased from a year ago, data from the companies showed Friday.
As of Thursday, total reservations for seats on shinkansen trains and express trains for the period from Dec. 27 to Jan. 5 grew 6 percent to 3.43 million, according to the six JR group firms.
Reservations for domestic flights were up by 17 percent to 4.13 million and those for international flights by 7 percent to 790,000 for the period from Dec. 20 to Jan 8.
