World’s First Foresight Encyclopedic Dictionary Available to the Public

(PRWEB) July 23, 2014 – FUTURES, the world’s first Foresight Encyclopedic Dictionary, is now available to the public in both English and Spanish, and plans are in progress for other translations as well. It contains more than 1,000 terms used in futures research and studies. It offers an immersion into the field of foresight, including inter alia, in the design and construction of possible, desirable, and catastrophic scenarios.

“FUTURES is the most comprehensive collection of terms used by futurists ever assembled,” says Jerome C. Glenn, Executive Director of The Millennium Project.

FUTURES is valuable for students, teachers, researchers, consultants, business planners, policy- and decision-makers, journalists, entrepreneurs, and anyone who is interested in anticipatory work and strategic studies. It is assembled in a friendly and comprehensive manner for improving the users’ understanding and employment of futures research terms and methods.

This extraordinary encyclopedic dictionary was developed over 10 years by Concepción Olavarrieta, Jerome C. Glenn, and Theodore J. Gordon from The Millennium Project, with input from another 500 futurists from around the world.

The Millennium Project is a global futures research think-tank founded in 1996 with international participation, which produces the annual State of the Future reports, the Futures Research Methodology series, the Global Futures Intelligence System (GFIS) with related software, and specialized studies. The Millennium Project has 50 Nodes worldwide, which identify participants, translate questionnaires and reports, and carry out special research, workshops, symposiums, and interviews to promote advanced training. The mission of the Millennium Project is to improve thinking about the future and make those insights available through a variety of feedback mechanisms, with the objective of accumulating knowledge and wisdom about the future in order to make better decisions today.

The Nodo Mexicano. El Proyecto del Milenio, A.C. is a foresight consulting firm that works on local, regional, and global futures research. It is leading the Global Futures For Mexico project of the Mexican Council for Foreign Affairs, the “State of the Future Index for the State of Mexico,” the “Global Futures Intelligence System for the State of Mexico,” and the Global Millennium Prize annual contests. It produced FUTURES, the first World Foresight Encyclopedia Dictionary and initiates special studies, such as “The Futures of Women’s Leadership against Transnational Organized Crime; Scenarios 2035.”
