Asian broadcasters conference proceeding normally in Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai — The Thai Government Public Relations Department (PRD) is hosting the 41st Annual Gathering and 14th AIBD General Conference and Associated Meetings in Chiang Mai province from 18 to 20 August 2015.
AIBD stands for “Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development.” It is a unique regional inter-governmental organization servicing countries of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in the field of electronic media development.
Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office M.L. Panadda Diskul presided over the opening ceremony and give a keynote address on 18 August, along with presentations of the AIBD Awards 2015 and World TV Awards 2015.
Participating in this event are media practitioners and AIBD members from 41 organizations in 26 countries, as well as 66 organizations that are affiliate members of AIBD.
PRD hosted the AIBD General Conference twice; the first one in 2000 in Bangkok and the second one in 2006 in Phuket.
The National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT), which is the broadcasting arm of PRD, is a founding member of AIBD.
The 26 full members of AIBD are the governments of the following countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, China, Cambodia, Fiji, France, India, Indonesia, Iran, Republic of Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Micronesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Samoa, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
