St Joseph’s Convent, Maymyo 1935 to 1942. Evacuated to India in 1942 at beginning of Japanese invasion of Burma.
High school: Simla, India, 1944.
Faculty of Science, University of Punjab, Lahore 1945 to 1947. At outbreak of India-Pakistan partition riots. Returned to Burma.
Kindergarten teacher at St Joseph’s Convent 1948.
Journalism career..
Correspondent in Maymyo for The Nation daily in 1949. Moved to Rangoon appointed reporter-proofreader at The Nation in 1950-1953. The Nation was the leading English language paper.
Married Attache of the Indonesian Embassy, Hadmoko Soehoed in November 1953 and moved to Indonesia. Husband expired 1986.
Staff Editor, Indonesian Observer 1957 to 1965. Observer closed down by the government in 1965. Wrote for Women’s page of Indonesian Herald in 1966. When Observer reopened in 1966 appointed Mananging Editor till 1977. Columnist for Indonesian Observer 1977 to 1999: Personally Speaking and Travel Notes.
PR consultant to Hotel Borobudur Inter-Continental 1977-1979 and PR consultant to Aeropacific Hotels 1977-79.
Founded Travel Indonesia July 1979, as Editor/Publisher. Closed December 2001
Publisher Garuda Inflight magazine 1981 to 1992.
PR consultant to Garuda Indonesian Airways from 1980 to 1986,
Also in between published “Indonesia Travelogue” , Wrote “Tourist Resorts in Indonesia, The Nusa Dua Concept” in 1991, “Gearing Up for the Nineties” in 1990 for the Directorate General of Tourism.
Indonesian Media Coordinator ASEAN Tourism Forum in Jakarta 1986, in Bandung 1991, Surabaya 1996 and Yogyakarta 2002.
International Media Coordinator for annual Tourism Indonesian Mart & Expo (TIME) from 1994 to 2002 including programmes, press releases, press conferences and press tours.
Recipient of PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) Travel Journalism Award in 1988 presented in Melbourne, Adikarya National Tourism Award Indonesia. In 1992, ASEAN Tourism Association Special Award for outstanding Contribution to the ASEAN Travel and Tourism Industry in January 2003 presented in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
