Israeli Police Let Jewish Fanatics into Al-Aqsa Area, Block Palestinians Entry
JERUSALEM, February 16, 2015 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers Tuesday continued their almost daily provocative visits to al-Aqsa Mosque Compound in Jerusalem, whilst Israeli police proceeded with imposing restrictive policies on Palestinian worshippers’ entry.
Settlers, divided in small groups and protected by Israeli police, stormed the Mosque’s compound and carried out provocative tours, infuriating worshipers who responded by chanting religious slogans to fend the incursion.
However, police managed to contain the incident, preventing clashes, which have been trending upward following the latest Israeli onslaught on the Gaza strip during July of 2014.
Israeli police imposes restrictions on Palestinian worshipers’ entry, particularly women and youth. Police retains their identity cards prior to their entry in anticipation of any clashes and to be able to detain those who might be involved.
The city of Jerusalem has been a scene of ongoing violent and deadly incidents which skyrocketed following Israeli settlers’ murder of 17-year-old Palestinian teenager Mohammad Abu Khduair last July who was found torched to death in a wood in Jerusalem. Since then, violent incidents caused loss of lives at both Palestinian and Israeli sides.
Jewish Fanatic Settlers Storm Joseph Tomb near Nablus
NABLUS, February 17, 2015 (WAFA) – Dozens of Israeli settlers stormed early Tuesday the Joseph Tomb to the east of Nablus, said security sources. Protected by Israeli forces, about seven buses packed with settlers arrived at Joseph Tomb, where they performed religious rituals, triggering clashes with the residents.
Israeli soldiers fired tear gas canisters at Palestinian locals who attempted to prevent settlers from storming the religious site. No arrests or injuries were reported. Settlers repeatedly break into Joseph Tomb, located in a densely Palestinian populated area in Nablus, provoking chaos and confrontation with local residents.
