Iran emerges as a new economic power, says head of Indian energy security group
TEHRAN, Oct 18, (NNN-IRNA ) – With sanctions going away, Iran is emerging as a new economic power, Chairman of the Energy Security Group of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Narendra Taneja said in an exclusive interview with IRNA.
Removal of Iran’s sanctions would lead to Iran emerging as a far more prosperous country, a much bigger economy and a much bigger stabilizing factor in the Middle East, the Indian business leader added.
Taneja called sanctions as a big obstacle in the way of expansion of ties between Tehran and New Delhi, adding that removal of sanctions will open new opportunities for Indian business to come and invest in Iran.
Referring to the cultural and historical commonalities between Iran and India, he said that the two states are complementary to each other.
Calling Iran a very talented country with lots of potentials, Taneja said India is keen to play a win-win game in relations with Tehran.
The ongoing developments will lead to big resurgence of Iranian economy and will flourish both Iranian private and governmental sectors, he added.
Taneja urged Iran to increase its stabilizing role in Afghanistan, adding that both Tehran and New Delhi share interests in this region.
Iran and India should work together to ensure peace and stability of Afghanistan, he said.
Chairman of the Energy Security Group of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) noted that new Iran as a new economic power is emerging and Iran and India together should cooperate for building the new Asia.
Gravity center of the world has moved to the Asia and Iran and India should play a bigger role in the new Asia, he added.
Taneja underscored that India is dependent on the Middle East oil and gas and supports this region’s stability.
Terrorism is threatening the region’s stability and Iran is in a good position to ensure that terrorism is eradicated from the Middle East, he said.
He said that with sanctions going away, Iran along with other countries including India would be able to play a bigger role against terrorist groups. It is time for all the regional countries including India and Iran to join hand against terrorism in order to build a better world for the future generation, he noted.
Iran and P5 1 reached a nuclear agreement on July 14 which is known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. The JCPOA imposes some restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for removal of illegal anti-Iran sanctions.
